Remember Shakti is a quintet which combines elements of traditional Indian music with elements of jazz. The band comprising english guitarist John McLaughlin, tabla maestro Zakir Hussain, U Srinivas (Mandolin), Shankar Mahadevan (Vocals) and V. Selvaganesh (Kanjira, Ghatam, Mridangam), who are all of Indian descent. The band's name is derived from John Mclaughlin's acoustic Indian fusion band Shakti which was active in the 1970s and had recorded three albums, " A Handful of Beauty" (1975), "Shakti" (1976), and "Natural Elements" (1977).

INDIA: John McLaughlin to perform in Hyderabad
Hyderabad music is soon going to be rocked by the performance of Shakti. Musicians across the city are going to be treated with their performance which is slated to happen on February 10 at Chowmahalla Palace.
