4 nations in jazz harmony(Budapest Times)
Three days of jazz featuring emerging and established talent brings together musicians from Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia for Jazz Showcase’s fifth anniversary. The audience can enjoy the free concerts each day at 5pm on 13, 14 and 15 January (Friday – Sunday) on the Palace of Arts’ Banner Square and Foyer stages, when bands from each of the four countries perform in half-hour slots. More-established talent takes to the stage in the evening concerts, for which tickets must be bought.
Free 5pm concerts
In the afternoon concerts, Friday sees Poland’s Nikola Kolodziejczyk Trio and Stryjo and Maciej Obara Quartet alongside Hungary’s Boglárka Csemer Quartet and Júlia Karosi Quartet. Slovakia follows on Saturday with the Pink Horse Trio and Martin Uherek Quartet on the free bill alongside local jazz stars János Ávéd Balance and the Tamás Meleg Quintet. Sunday’s 5pm programme features Sato-San To and Infinite Quintet, from the Czech Republic, with Hungarian performances provided by The Vera Jones Experiment and Máté Pozsár.
