Max von Mosch's recently recorded album “Black Périgord” is the most ambitious of his musical projects and it demonstrates his talent not only as a saxophonist but also as a composer.
Another important project of his is the quartet max.bab, a band Max has been touring and recording with for over ten years now. The most recent of six records was released on the German label ACT-music. While touring mainly in Germany the band has also been invited to renown festivals such as the Montreal Jazzfestival and JazzBaltica. Recently they have been sent on tour in Kazakhstan by the Goethe-Institute, another tour is planned in South-Asia for the fall of 2011.
In 2008 received a two years scholarship by the German Exchange service to study at the New England Conservatory Boston (U.S.A.) where he will soon graduate with a Doctoral of Musical Arts degree. During his studies at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, the Manhattan School New York, and the New England Conservatory Max studied with well-known musicians such as Ferdinand Povl, George Garzone, Dick Oatts, Miguel Zenon, and Billy Hart. In 2005 he was rewarded the Günther-Klinge Cultural Award of his hometown Gauting, near Munich (Germany).
Music student since September 2000 at the Amsterdam Conservatory, University der Künste Berlin and Manhattan School of Music New York: Studies saxophone with Ferdinand Povl, Jasper Blom, Peter Weniger and Dick Oatts and composition with Jurre Haanstra and Michael Abene. Sponsored member of the NationalYouthJazzOrchestra under the direction of Peter Herbolzheimer. Distinguished in Usti nad Laben (Czech Republic) with the International Jazz Festival Soloist Prize, as well as the NationalYouthJazzOrchestra`s Sponsor Prize, given at the National Meeting of “JugendJazzt” in Erfurt by the German Council of Music in May 2001. Composition and arrangement for the Norwegian Radio Orchestra and others. Concerts with the Harald Rüschenbaum JazzOrchestra, the Gazzeloni Septet, the Contrast Sextet…. 2005 Günther-Klinge Award of the commune Gauting.
