Chris Parker,
a professor of music at SUNY Orange, developed and heads the Jazz
Studies program. He is a member of the faculty for nearly 34 years and a
recipient of the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. A
native of Portland, OR, he received a BA from Portland State
University, an MA in Music Composition from Goddard College and has done
extensive additional graduate work in music theory and composition. An
active composer of jazz and contemporary classical music, Parker has a
long list of original compositions. Parker plays in east coast and west
coast jazz festivals often with contemporary jazz greats such as Bob
Mintzer, Randy Brecker, Chris Vadala and Donny McCaslin.
This concert will feature original compositions by Chris on piano, Rob Thomas on Violin,Tony Marino on Bass and Steve Johns on Drums. |
