"A Walk," the debut album of trumpeter/composer Will Caviness, is a
soulful kind of record. Featuring a 3-horn-led sextet of young, yet
seasoned New York players, the music is swinging, contemplative, deep,
and dynamic. Mr. Caviness, a Memphis native living in New York,
possesses a rich, smoky tone on both trumpet and flugelhorn that is
simultaneously beautiful and edgy. Combined two saxophonists and a
rhythm section, the result is a brand new take on a classic jazz
instrumentation.
