(1)  FOUR80EAST - NEW RELEASE - “POSITRACTION"

Four80East (a highly successful Canadian fusion/smooth jazz duo, consisting of Rob DeBoer and Tony Price) has just issued a groovy new release entitled, Positraction.

I am pleased to have been featured on a couple of the tracks (…one of which is with Cuban trumpet maestro, ALEXIS BARO!…)

Anyway, it’s always great to record with Four80East because Rob and Tony never write anything out, so I get to improvise my part, completely!  The two tracks on which I appear in this new release are as follows:
- Track 3 - “Into the Wind”
- Track 6 - “Tikitango”

The full length album is now available at both Amazon ( http://www.amazon.com/Positraction-Four80East/dp/B0105HNC34 ) and at iTunes ( https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/positraction/id1003384545 )

[NOTE: The announcement about the release at the Four80East website includes an audio/video (“The Walker”) from their previous release, Off Duty, in which some extreme flute is also featured.  You can see and listen to that earlier track here:  http://four80east.com/2015/06/new-album-positraction/ ]

(2)  REVIEW OF “GRAIN OF SAND” IN THE FRENCH FLUTE JOURNAL

Here is a the most recent review of Grain of Sand (Bill McBirnie & Bruce Jones), which written by Pascal Gresset, editor of the French flute journal, Tempo flûte.

Bill McBirnie & Bruce Jones
Grain of Sand
(Extreme Flute - EF07 - 61 mins)

This is an exquisite production by the celebrated Canadian jazz flutist, Bill McBirnie (Find Your Place, Mercy, Paco Paco, Nature Boy).  Here Bill introduces a new album which, although in an entirely recognizable style, is still innovative in that it presents his collaborator, Bruce Jones, a fellow Canadian who is distinguished by both South and North-American roots, and who wrote or co-wrote all of the tunes.  Together, they have produced a program of music that is inspired by Brazil but which, at the same time, remains true to the tradition of jazz.  These two musicians first met 15 years ago at which time they recorded their first album, Desvio.  They return here once again—and every bit as satisfying—with Grain of Sand (including both instrumental and vocal versions of the title track), offering a perfect combination of samba with the essence of jazz.  (Pascal Gresset, Editor, Tempo flûte No 12, Deuxième semestre 2015)

(3)  …EARS!

Here are a couple of fascinating video clips of two girls who have absolutely amazing ears!  (Both clips are short…and both girls are truly remarkable!…)

(i) Camille Bertault - "Giant Steps"

(ii) Girl With A Unique Talent

(4)  SOME FORTHCOMING GIGS
