The Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Society has elected to hold a fundraising
event featuring the Cab Calloway Orchestra, led by Cab’s grandson
Christopher Calloway Brooks. The event will be held prior to the 44th
Annual Bix Memorial Jazz Festival in Downtown Davenport.
Alternative opportunities to sustaining the Festival are needed, and this event is instrumental in preserving the music of Bix and the era of music which Bix inspired. Funds are also need to improve our Youth Education Program, by providing scholarships, as well as necessary equipment and music, to allow area Junior High & High School musicians an opportunity to learn the music that is no longer presented in the local music education programs.
