Dear Friends in Music

Hopefully You can join us for this webcast that will start at 7pm sharp, with the band performing from 7:05pm, and available anywhere in the world except the New York City area for a modest sum of $3, being a great and symbolic contribution not just to this unique and incredible band from Indonesia, but also to this excellent venue.
ShapeShifter Lab is a 4,200 square foot performance space in Park Slope/Gowanus section of Brooklyn (NYC); this newly renovated performance space hosts the world’s most innovative artists who are looking for a flexible platform to present their work. Bass player Matthew Garrison, son of Jimmy Garrison (bass player for John Coltrane), is the co-owner and creative director with his business partner, Fortuna Sung. With many years as a successful touring musician under his belt, Matt and his team have designed the space with versatility in sound, lighting and layout, each of which can be tailored to each artist. With state-of-the-art equipment and raw space, Matt and his team are creating something truly unique and desperately needed in today’s venue scene in New York City.

Please click on the above cd cover image to for more info on simakDialog's new studio album "The 6th Story"
The Sixth Story is the exhilarating, full-throttle follow-up to 2009's critically-acclaimed Demi Masa and 2007's Patahan , from the Indonesian progressive gamelan-jazz band simakDialog. Raising the benchmark in a genre known for its brilliant artists is no easy feat, but this album is up to the task: each composition is an exquisite master-class rendering of equal parts elegance and intrigue. This is modern progressive jazz at its most original, most far-reaching and most achieving. Referencing the discernible influence of a host of the genre's most innovative voices -- from the great Miles Davis, to Return To Forever, to The Zawinul Syndicate, John Abercrombie Quartet, and even the late, great Charles Mingus -- the band continues to push the musical envelope: leaping boldly into uncharted territories where progressive music has yet dared venture (and precious few would be brave- or skilled-enough to even consider attempting)
