Southern Nazarene University Singers- Day or By Night by (2013)

The University Singers, under the direction of Jim Graves, specialize in vocal jazz and contemporary music. This album features standards, latin grooves, and urban gospel tunes arranged for a group of tight harmony singers and killer soloists.

The University Singers, which was formed in 1988 by D.E. Hill, consists of singers who specialize in vocal jazz and contemporary music. During their existence they have performed at ACDA Regional and National Conventions, they have toured across the Southwest United States, in Brazil, Japan, Korea, New Guinea, The Bahamas, Kenya, Venezuela, and Central Europe. The U. Singers also host the annual SNU Vocal Jazz Festival. They have performed in concert with Jennifer Barnes, Greg Jasperse, Peter Eldridge, M-Pact, Point of Grace, and Darmon Meader.

In 2012 the University Singers were invited to headline the "Festival de Jazz de la Universidad de Carabobo." They performed for packed houses that had to turn people away for lack of seating. they did Vacation Bible School and embraced the local community sharing Christ along the way. They were on national television and in statewide newspapers. There were too many open doors and answers to prayer to count.

The album, "By Day Or By Night," features music by our hero groups like The New York Voices, M-Pact, and Take 6. We also have our own twist on gospel tunes popularized by Israel Houghton, Kirk Franklin, and Martha Munizzi. Paris Rutherford, Rosana and Gary Eckert, Darmon Meader, and Hildegunn Gjedrem are all represented through their arrangements on this album. Vijay Singh's arrangement of the hymn "Be Thou My Vision" closes this project and in doing so encapsulates our desire to sing tight harmonies, have a lot of fun, and worship God in the process.
