ADRIÁN OROPEZA TRIO: Mezcal (2012)

Mezcal is the title of the second album by Adrian Oropeza Trio, a project supported by the National Fund for Culture and the Arts Promotion Program Projects 2010.

Made up by eleven tracks, Mezcal, combines colors and musical textures, giving rise to very significant issues of the Mexican identity, such as mezcal, the sound of “El organillero” or mother Nonantzin,  giving, besides, new life to jazz arrangements in pieces from different regions of the country like huapango in “La cigarra” (The grasshopper) the traditional corrido revolution in “Adelita” and “Duerme” (Sleep), song that is part of the history of  mexican cinema. There are as well pieces by José Alfredo Jiménez, Tata Nacho and José López Alavés, among others.

For the recording of Mezcal, in march 2011, Adrián Oropeza had the talent of pianist and composer Abraham Barrera and bass player Iván Barrera, who shows their virtuosity on the instrument, and also brought his creativity as a composer and arranger for various mexican pieces included in the CD to become Mezcal, a recording that joint three young mexican musicians talent.
