Jazz festival chiefs step in to revive Capital cavalcade
Edinburgh Evening NewsThe cavalcade, which will now be known as the “Festivals Carnival”, is being moved forward to July 22 in order to take place on the first Sunday of the jazz festival.

Brian Fallon, chairman of the Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival, said: “We envisage it being a parade led by Harley-Davidsons and we have a number of bands from the UK, as well as international; street bands and brass bands, as well as samba bands.

This year’s festival will get under way on the evening of March 3 at the Ahmet Adnan Saygun Art Center (AASSM) with the opening of an exhibition of İKSEV’s jazz festival poster competition entrants. The night will also see a live performance from the Amsterdam-based quartet Arifa, who will perform on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the commencement of diplomatic ties between Turkey and the Netherlands.

WITCC will host its sixth annual instrumental and vocal Lewis and Clark Jazz Festival Monday and Tuesday on its campus. This festival features two days of competition, clinics, performances and insights from judges.
