USA: Hamiet Bluiett's Recovery by Anaya Bluiett - GoFundMe

My name is Anaya Bluiett and I am the grand daughter of Hamiet Bluiett, world known Baritone saxophonist. Recently, he's been hospitalized for several months because he has had numerous strokes and seizures. He was in the critical intensive care unit, then the hospital and two rehabs to help him get back to himself but it's still going to take some time. I am trying to raise money for him for his bills and traveling expenses, since he no longer will be able to work. I'm working on moving him back to Saint Louis from New York, where he is currently living. I've been traveling back and forth to take care of him. He doesn't like asking people for help, but sometimes that's what you have to do, to be able to help yourself. He's been playing the baritone saxophone for decades and music is what he loves more than anything. For him to have to retire is going to be the most difficult part to deal with for him. If there's anything you'll can do to help, it would be greatly appreciated. You can look him up on google to find out any more information about him that you would like to know. Thank you.

Pablo Ziegler JazzTango Trio

Tango maestro Pablo Ziegler - the Buenos Aires-born, Latin Grammy-winning pianist and composer who helped shape the modern tango - delivers stripped-down, intimate arrangements of his essential repertoire, offering a raw, elemental concert program. From fiery, improvised solos to delicately woven ensemble playing, the trio delivers unmatched readings of beloved works by Ziegler, as well as modern classics by his late, longtime collaborator Astor Piazzolla - "Ziegler continues to push the art form forward... nuevo tango's leading living exponent" (All About Jazz).

Sirius Quartet 9:45pm with special guest Tracy Silverman
The “Sirius Quartet is pleased to have electric violinist Tracy Silverman join them for this program

Sirius Quartet

According to Time Out New York, "this long-running group of four-string virtuosos boasts an outlandishly diverse repertoire," from the Afro-Cuban hues of "Racing Mind" to the serene, bitter-sweet balladry of "Ceili." These conservatory-trained performer-composers shine with precision, soul and a raw energy rarely witnessed on stage, championing a forward-thinking, genre-defying approach that makes labels like 'New Music' sound tame - "fantastic fluidity... tasteful and inventive" (Downbeat Magazine).

AUSTRIA: Hermann Szobel-Szobel (2017)

Previously unavailable on CD, Hermann Szobel s Szobel was originally released in 1976. Over the years it has developed a cult following. Szobel was a 17 year virtuoso pianist who arrived from Austria with aspirations to become a star in the world of jazz. He also happened to be the nephew of rock impresario Bill Graham. Szobel was highly influenced by Martial Solal and Frank Zappa. His compositions were rooted in jazz and rock. After recording this one album he disappeared from the music world. The CD features audiophile mastering by Bob Katz and liner notes by bassist Michael Visceglia.

USA: Robert Randolph & The Family Band -Got Soul(2017)

Pedal-steel virtuoso Robert Randolph returns with his new album, Got Soul. The album reaffirms that Randolph and his Family Band have truly evolved into one of the most exciting and innovative outfits in contemporary music. Got Soul takes stock of Randolph's past as a church musician as it pushes the band forward into new places. There is no shortage of originality on the album with songs that run the gamut from gospel numbers to deep, funky grooves to incendiary rock-and-soul jams. The hauntingly exquisite "Heaven's Calling" features Randolph on solo steel while guest vocalists Darius Rucker and Anthony Hamilton lend their golden voices to "Love Do What It Do" and "She Got Soul" respectively. "I Thank You," the 60s Sam & Dave R&B smash, is completely re-imagined in the hands of the Family Band and Snarky Puppy's very on Cory Henry.
