ANGOLA: Jazz Festival Luanda jazz festival 4th edition to be better


Luanda - The director of Luanda International Jazz Festival, António Cristóvão, said on Tuesday in Luanda that the 4th edition will be higher than other previous event, both in terms artists and organisation level.

The director said so to the press on the fringes of the presentation of 10 artist that will perform in the event.

In addition, António Cristóvão said that the fourth edition will comprise more music styles and a better artists lign-up.

The South African musician Abdula Hibrahim and US artist Hubert Laws will be the show head of the event.

The festival will also count on the participation of musicians namely Coreón Dú and Aline Frazão (Angola), Asa (Nigeria), saxophonist Manu Dibango and Ettiene Mbapé (Cameroon) and Conha Buika (Spain), Angola 70 band and Boyz II Men (US).

Angola: American Jazz Quartet to Play in Luanda

Luanda — The American jazz quartet Luxion/Michael Raynor is to promote as of Thursday until February 14, a series of music and educative shows, as well as professional exchanges with Angolan artists.
A press note from the US Embassy to Angola says that the visit is part of the cultural interchange programme with the US Department of State.
During their stay in Luanda, the band will interact with young musicians from Dom Bosco Centre and will participate in radio and television programs.
The band, from Chicago, Illinois, play an original hard swinging jazz.(angola press)

ANGOLA: Hugh Masekela, Tiwa Savage, others bring Jazz to centre stage

LAST weekend, Lagosians were serenade by Jazz Music from renowned classical acts across the globe including South Africa’s Hugh Masekela, Uganda/Rwanda’s Somi, Germany’s Vladyslav Sendecki, Ghana’s Efya and a host of Nigerian Soul/Jazz artistes such as Tiwa Savage, Omawumi, Keziah Jones, Bez, Cobhams Asuquo, Sesu, Dipo and Diana Bada.
The Lagos Jazz Series was held across four primary outdoor stages showing jazz’s ability to bring people together. Venues were the Four Points Sheraton Terrace, the serene poolside of Sofitel (Moorhouse) Hotel, the Lagos Motor Boat Club and the Muri Okunola Park.

Angola: Ismael Lo thrills public at Luanda Jazz Festival

Luanda – The Senegalese musician Ismael Lo, currently one of the main references in African music, on Friday night thrilled the public at the Luanda International Jazz Festival, happening in Atlântico Cinema until Sunday.

In his one hour and a half performance, Ismael Lo got effusive applauses from the audience that attended the first day of the festival.

The Senegalese musician, who did not leave behind his guitar, was preceded by Dj Rui Alves (Angola) and the veteran Portuguese singer Rui Veloso.

Ismael Lo sang some of his new and old hit tunes, songs filled with a strong percussion and guitar notes, going between French and Spanish.

 
The public thrilled and sang along to songs like "Dib Dib Rek", "L' Amour A Tous Les Droits", "Africa" and others.

There were also performances by Emmanuel Kanda (Angola), Rui Veloso (Portugal), the bands LiqueDeep and Black Cooffe (both from South Africa) with songs in pop and soul styles, respectively.


The festival proceeds this Saturday with the performances of the American singer Macy Grey, the Angolan Maravilha Band, the musician Kizua Gourgel, among others.
