(1) JAZZIZ MAGAZINE REVIEW (PLUS) - THE SILENT WISH:
JazzIz On Disc, Winter 2018, Issue 40, Disc 2, Track 7
"JazzIz listeners may think they know what to expect when approaching a flute-piano duo album with the title, The Silent Wish (particularly when its cover image is a moody photo of bare branches bejewelled with raindrops). While the melodies adhere to minor keys, they also swing like mad under the ministrations of Canadian flutist, Bill McBirnie, and longtime colleague, Bernie Senensky…[T]he duo hardly dwells on the saudade or melancholy aspects of the music, but infuse all of it with a great joie de vivre that nods to bebop and soul-jazz among other idioms."
And here is another one from The WholeNote magazine:
"...A true virtuoso who counts the great classical flutist Sir James Galway as a diehard fan...This bejewelled 2018 masterpiece is a duet with another celebrated Canadian musician, pianist Bernie Senensky. Both McBirnie and Senensky have acquired reputations for being fine craftsmen on their respective instruments…[T]he two musicians infuse these 12 songs – in a variety of idioms and styles – with an intimacy and an emotional intensity that can only be described as a poetry of feeling...[T]here is no finer example of this than the performance of Charlie Haden’s, "First Song"…[T]empi vary and the songs often abound in quite startling dramatic contrasts, with moments of lyric tenderness passages of tumultuous energy, but always played with unruffled grace." (by Raul da Gama, The WholeNote)
And one more from One World Music:
"The Silent Wish is an album that has all the hallmarks of greatness within the genre of jazz with sheer class firmly imprinted on each and every track. It’s an album that is timeless and simply gorgeous. This is without a doubt one of my favourite jazz releases of the year and, of course totally, recommended." (by Steve Sheppard, One World Music)
NOTE: The Silent Wish is available in CD digital format at CDBaby (…And the full liner notes and credits are posted there as well!...)
(2) THE TENEBRAE CHOIR - "MISERERE MEI, DEUS" (BY ALLEGRI):
…This may well be the definitive version!…
(It’s pretty powerful, coming in at about five-and-a-half minutes.)
(3) SOME FORTHCOMING GIGS:
