David Cain & Paul Wertico-Feast for the Senses (Umedia Studios 2012)

Improvised melodic expanses, brewing grooves, telepathic group interaction, kaleidoscopic textures, soulful words, jam-band aficionados and jazz heads get it.

Seven-time Grammy Award winning drummer Paul Wertico and multimedia artist David Cain, and his two-time Grammy nominated band Senses present, A Feast For The Senses - An Evening of Improvised Music.

One of the most versatile and musical drummers in music today, Paul Wertico’s playing has been compared to an “Impressionist painter” and he’s been described as “an inspired madman” and “a restless innovator”. Paul is internationally known for his playing with the Pat Metheny Group, Paul Winter, Kurt Elling, Ken Nordine, Larry Coryell, etc., as well as his own groups. Dig Paul's solo, "Even The Kitchen Sink." It's red.

David Cain is an award winning performer, artist, filmmaker, author, composer, teacher and a Hoogland Center for the Arts Resident Artist. With his “energized, soulful, Sting-like voice,” David, like Paul, has been described as an “Impressionist painter mixing colors” with his one-of-a-kind candy apple red tenor sax, iPad, wind controller, keys...

Joining David & Paul are SENSES musicians David Hoffman, 13-year trumpet soloist & arranger with the Ray Charles Orchestra (trumpet, keys, EWI, conch shell), Howard Freitag (guitar), Michael Wall (percussion), Jim Cloney (bass).

The results are improvised, eclectic, evocative - brewing rhythmic grooves, melodic expanses, and telepathic group interaction resembling the profound influence of Miles Davis's "Bitches Brew" or Herbie Hancocks's "Headhunter's." Making music for the fun of it, all styles, kaleidoscopic approach to melody, rhythm, grooves and textures, reshaped and sculpted, painterly orchestrations, soulful words, jam-band aficionados and jazz heads get it.
