A special evening with Rickie Lee Jones taking her audience on an intimate journey, reminiscing, telling tales, jokes and, of course, singing those inimitable songs which sit somewhere between jazz, blues, pop and folk. Her high-pitched and hopeful holler sounds fragile to the point of breaking at any moment, singing about demons of broken love, drug addiction and a stash of gold from Coolsville. The premiere song-stylist and songwriter of her generation Rickie Lee Jones playing her guitar and singing any number of her award winning songs: “Chuck E.’s in Love,” or her interpretation of the classic, “Making Whoopee,” for which she won a Grammy® in 1990.

One of the best funk bands out of New Orleans, GALACTIC is a collaborative band with a unique format. They’ve been together so long they’re telepathic. GALACTIC is part of a diverse community of musicians, and in their own studio, with Mercurio and Ellman producing, they have the luxury of experimenting. So on their albums, they do something that’s unusual in rock but not so controversial an idea in, say, hiphop: they create something that’s a little like a revue, a virtual show featuring different vocalists (mostly from New Orleans) and instrumental soloists each taking their turn on stage in the GALACTIC sound universe.
GALACTIC is, always was, and always will be a funk band. Whatever genre of music anyone in New Orleans is doing, from Mardi Gras Indians to rock bands to hardcore rappers, it’s all funk at the bottom, because funk is the common musical language, the lingua franca of New Orleans music. Even zydeco can be funky -- and if you don’t believe it, check out “Voyage Ton Flag,” the album’s evocation of Cajun Mardi Gras, in which Mamou Playboy STEVE RILEY meets up with a sampled Clifton Chenier inside the GALACTIC funk machine.

The trio’s amalgam of jazz, funk and a million other musical currents and impulses is nearly impossible to classify, which is just how they like it.
The trio is made up of Medeski’s keyboard excursions, Chris Wood’s hard-charging bass lines and Billy Martin’s supple, danceable beats. They music has come to resemble a single organism, moving gracefully between genre-defying compositions and expansive improvisation atop a relentless groove.

Winner of 19 Grammy Awards, jazz guitarist Pat Metheny is considered one of the brightest stars in the jazz community. It is one thing to attain popularity as a musician, but it is another to receive the kind of acclaim Metheny has garnered from critics and peers. Over the years, Metheny has won countless polls as "Best Jazz Guitarist" and awards, including three gold records for (Still Life) Talking, Letter from Home, and Secret Story. Pat has put together a killer band for this new project called THE PAT METHENY UNITY BAND. The lineup for this project is sax great Chris Potter, PMG and PM Trio drummer, Antonio Sanchez and great young bassist Ben Williams.
