Someone once wrote about the album COCOA by MOONSUN CHRSTOPHE SCHWEIZER that “it stands in the musical landscape like a monolith”. Any attempt to put into words what makes the music on the new album OPUS sound familiar and yet at the same time so different might probably have an effect on the listener similar to what would happen if during a kiss you were given a physiological explanation as to why you are feeling so good.
Because this New-York based quintet of trombonist and composer Christophe Schweizer uses their level of technical perfection exclusively in order to create a listening experience in which the music becomes a movie whose screenplay is continually being written according to the syntax of instrumental mastery and the spirit of ideas: in the end, purely the story is perceived, and nothing else.
