UK, JAZZ AND ARTS: Gina Southgate - Art and jazz produce a colourful combination
TAKE a jazz trombonist and an artist who paints to the sound of music.
In just 30 minutes, in a kaleidoscope of movement and colour, a painting emerges of one woman's unique perspective of a jazz feast. It is all down to the improvisation of the fast-painting Essex-born Gina Southgate, who has carved a name for herself as one of the country's most fascinating artists.
Gina, who was born in Grays but now lives in north London, was showcasing her skills at a special live art event at New Art Gallery in the Barleylands Craft Village on Sunday.
Alongside her easel was jazz trombonist Alan Tomlinson, whose performance was given permanency and colour on the canvas.(Full story)
