Having worked live with Pink Floyd, Ray Charles, Henry Mancini, Natalie Cole, as well as orchestral dates with; Harry Connick Jr., Manhattan Transfer and Josh Groban. Gordon’s musical journey continues with an impressive array of top recording artists in literally every genre of music listing him as ‘a first call musician”.

Tim traveled for many years with The Temptations and the Four Tops performing at major venues worldwide which included PBS Specials with The Four Tops such as “Live form the Jackie Gleason Theatre”, a CD recording; “Christmas Here With You”, and the DVD; “The Four Tops Live at the MGM Grand”.

Diversity has been Tim’s calling card, with literally thousands of recording sessions to his credit; national and regional artists releases, movie and television themes and numerous commercial dates. For twenty years Tim worked for Sound Source recording studio transcribing and recording all genres of saxophone and woodwind music for the popular “Sound Choice Accompaniment Tracks”.

As an educator, Tim encourages his students with the knowledge that there is life after music school. “It is my goal as an educator that as my students find their place in life, they might continue to perform.”

The Jazz Network Worldwide is excited to promote multi-instrumentalist Tim Gordon to its worldwide platform with his new CD Up & Up. As a veteran performing and recording artist Tim Gordon penned and arranged all the songs on his new project and hand-picked some of the best musicians on the scene. “When you hear ‘Up & Up’ it makes you immediately take notice of the funky grooves and the cohesiveness of such a stellar chemistry of musical excellence. Tim Gordon truly knows how to bring a musical conversation to pass, leaving you with wanting more” says Jaijai Jackson, creator of The Jazz Network Worldwide Social Network.

“It’s always fun to record music with great players, music is what we do, its who we are” states Gordon. Notables such as Keith Carlock, Jim Brock, Tim Smith, Roddy Smith, Steve Willets, Robby Robinson, Felton Offard, Roy Agee and John Thornton made this project come to life and expertly produced by Tim Smith and Tim Gordon.

“Soulful, hip, smart and technically brilliant. What else could you ask of a saxophone player? Encyclopedic range, comfort with any kind of music, and besides all that? He’s a real nice guy. You’re in for a treat here. Tim Gordon has finally made a record of his own!” says Ricky Schultz of http://www.jazzconsultant.com.

This project has been brewing for a while and has been long overdue, the nucleus of this project was to have ‘fun’ says Gordon wanting his listening audience to experience as much fun as they had recording it.

Sunshower the New Single from Airborne will Chase the Clouds Away
Sunshower the new single from the contemporary jazz group Airborne embeds the beauty of nature into an amazing and smooth grooving tune that will shine a light of delight to any listener’s ear, mind and body.

A sunshower is a
meteorological phenomenon in which rain falls while the sun is shining. These conditions often lead to the appearance of a rainbow.

This feel good theme of Sunshower opens up as a sky with raindrops that groove a heartfelt beat as the haunting wind of the soprano sax colors a rainbow through the clouds with a wondrous joy streaming through the warm rays of sunlight of the other instruments and vocals to create a cool atmosphere of music that is truly Airborne.

Sunshower is the first single from the historic, prestigious, and soon to be released Airborne - 25th Anniversary CD - Silver Skies in 2013 with a wide range of all new compositions filled with that special joyful jazz that fans have enjoyed for many years. Provoke - Made to Break (Clean Feed 2013)

Personnel: Christof Kurzmann (elec), Devin Hoff (b), Ken Vandermark (reeds), Tim Daisy (d),
The released of the cd “Provoke” is the result of a three day series of concerts, by a Ken Vandermark’s new project, during the commemoration, in Lisbon, of the 10th anniversary of the label Clean Feed. This is it: Made to Break, a quartet shared with electronicist Christoff Kurzmann, electric bassist Devin Hoff and drummer Tim Daisy. “New”, here, means literally a different approach from the many others tried and accomplished by the Chicagoan saxophonist and clarinetist, even if there’s connections with some aspects of the explorations signed by FME, Frame Quartet and Spaceways Inc.

There’s one main principle followed, and this is named “modular organization”. It consists in the tactical combination of distinct defined modules in always changing compositions, or “comp-improvisations” to be exact, because the purpose is to apply an alternative writing for improvisers. «I’m trying to move further outside of “jazz resources and aesthetics” and to utilize different sources of rhythmic/melodic ideas inspired from other genres of music I’m interested in (funk, rock, European free improvisation and the New York School of composition – Cage, Feldman, Wolff, Brown) in order to find new ways to organize compositional material», says Vandermark.

Thollem - "Dear Future" (2013)

Thollem McDonas is a pianist, composer, improviser and teacher. He has been traveling perpetually throughout North America and Europe for many years. His music is diverse, with each album and every concert exploring a variety of approaches and paths, resulting in dramatically different outcomes. McDonas has collaborated with a wide range of instrumentalists such as Mike Watt (Minutemen/The Stooges), Nels Cline (Wilco), John Dieterich/Greg Saunier (Deerhoof), Jad Fair (Half-Japanese) and Arrington de Dionyso(Old Time Relijun) plus his avant-punk band Tsigoti (Italy) and many many more..

« Thollem’s keyboard flights unleash cascades of notes of seemingly impossible velocity and no matter where he goes tonally, it always seems right, fresh and satisfying. He should be on everyone’s listening list who appreciates great piano music. As an improviser, he inhabits a world uniquely his own, rhythmically, harmonically and formally. A true original. » (Terry Riley)

« Both my mother and grandmother were piano teachers. I woke almost daily to piano lessons they were giving. Together they clocked about 150 years of teaching piano. I wonder how Thollem would have sounded to me then ? Maybe the answer is on the CD » (Pauline Oliveros)

Album available on Bandcamp :

Release : 20.03.2013

These are recordings found in a shoe box in a garage on tape cassettes thought to be lost. The album contains both compositions and improvisations of Thollem's as well as performances of pieces by other composers including Skryabin, Prokofiev, Scarlatti, and Bach recorded while in high school and first years of college. The newest recording of this collection is from 1989, more than 15 years before Thollem's first official release on Edgetone Records and Pax Recordings in 2005. Though he never abandoned music entirely, the years between were spent primarily in grassroots political activism and urban farming. These  are the best quality recordings of the collection but still retain a very 'archeological' sound to them.
