The KoSA Drum and
Percussion Workshop 22nd edition
will be held in Montréal, this summer!
Montreal, May 16,
2017: The 22nd edition of the KoSA Drums and
Percussion Workshops will be held at the KoSA Academy in NDG this coming June 26th
to July 1st, 2017. KoSA – a world renown music and events
company founded and directed by Westmount residents Aldo Mazza of the
internationally recognized group “Répercussion” and his musician wife Dr. Jolán
Kovács,(lecturer at the Schulich School of Music of McGill University) have
been expertly designing educational events centered on drums and percussion for
over twenty years in such varied places like China, Cuba, Italy and the
U.S. The time was right this year to show off the KoSA Academy’s
new space including a 45 seat recital hall – in the borough of NDG
(Notre-Dame-de-Grace) and host
this special event in Mazza and Kovacs’ “backyard”.
The primary mission
of this year’s camp will be to provide students of all ages and all levels with
hands-on classes taught by world-class artists, but also to learn a variety of
percussion instruments and styles for a TOTAL percussion experience. This year’s faculty will include Horacio Hernandez
(Santana), Mark Guiliana (David
Bowie), Jonathan Mover (Alice Cooper/Drumhead magazine), Aldo Mazza (Répercussion, int. soloist),
Glen Velez (International Frame Drum
Artist), Beverley Johnston (International
Marimba Soloist), Billy Konaté (African
Master Drummer), Mario DiCiutiis
(KAT, Electronic Percussion), and Nanny
Assis (Brazilian percussion, singer and drummer) and the KoSA Rhythm Section:
Yoel Diaz (piano) and Samuel Cournoyer (bass).
