"Tarana is boldly bringing live electronic beats and sounds into unusual/challenging rhythms. Using bass-synths, layered electronic beats/loops that are tweaked in real-time, along with Indian melodies, global rhythms and Jazz-improvisations, they blend the acoustic and electronic to create music "easily categorized as jazz, traditional music, electronica, or more likely, some unholy combination of all three. Dear Friends of Creative Music:
Our May tour of Mexico was a great success! I've always found Mexico to have open-minded audiences and promoters alike. We played diverse venues, ranging from jazz-clubs to concert halls.
This tour also brought about a breakthrough, where we'd arrived at a sound where the music strolled through Oslo, Addis-Ababa, Lagos and Mumbai. "Ancient to the future," to quote the AACM adage. While I've been experimenting with live loops/electronics for over 4 years now, I finally began to find a way to seamless integerate the electronic into the acoustic elements, as evidenced in this clip : LIVE @ FUNDACION SEBASTIAN: http://youtu.be/ 54blQRIRJfI) Hope you'll set a few minutes aside to watch it.

They build beautiful, utterly unpredictable improvisations from elements as disparate as Indian classical music, electronic music and a vast panoply of East Asian rhythms." (Pittsburgh Tribune-Review)
