GOJOGO - 28,000 Days (Porto Franco 2011)
Gojogo's third album accesses tranquility, transformation and edgy revelation while navigating influences that are poles apart. The cinematic sounds of the opening track Escapist conjure the tension of a cult spy film. All is Fair recalls distant memories with its haunting melodies andEbb evokes images of the sea and parts beyond. 28,000 Days is a journey. The ensemble's hybrid musical style fuses the Western traditions of jazz and classical music with the rhythmic traditions of India and contemporary electronic music. Eric Perney's upright bass work intertwines dexterously with violin melodies from Sarah Jo Zaharako and Roger Riedlbauer's textural guitar playing, supported by Elias Reitz' deft use of hand percussion and electronic samples. 28,000 Days is a manifestation of nearly a decade of collaboration and original composition by the four members of Gojogo.
