AUSTRIA: Anna Maurer Trio-Visionariness (ATS 2019)

Through years of experiencing music side by side, yet in diverse contexts, a new ensemble with Thomas Milacher on bass, Martin Kleibl on the drums and Anna Maurer on the piano has emerged. Together, they lead the tradition of the piano trio into its own musical cosmos. The individual stylistics of Anna Maurer’s compositions are best described by the fusion of Jazz, Latin and Rock with influences of classical music tradition. Complex rhythmic and harmonic structures play an important role, without serving as an end in itself at the expense of an aesthetics, which gives their pieces the magic of uniqueness. The new CD “Visionariness” will be presented in May and June 2019. It includes 8 pieces that, originating from different musical starting points, find their way to a common concept. Her collaboration with the Viennese rapper Yasmin Hafedh aka YASMO is reflected in the joint track “Smile”. Saxophonist Christian Maurer and trumpeter Simon Plötzeneder are additional guests, each represented in one title.
