ITALY: Giovanni Falzone-Far East Trip (2018)

 Giovanni Falzone, one of the most interesting and creative European trumpeter, reinterprets the Far East Suite by Duke Ellington In 1966/67 Duke Ellington undertook a long journey through the Middle and Far East. When he came back he wrote a very successful suite with which he won the Grammy for Jazz in 1968. A real mixed jungle of notes that Giovanni Falzone reinterprets and combines with original tracks of a different journey, a real psychedelic trip between Far East and nu Jazz. Giovanni Falzone, one of the most interesting and creative European trumpeter, reinterprets the Far East Suite by Duke Ellington, combining four tracks of the original suite (A tourist point of view – Blue Bird of Delhi (Mynah) – Blue Pepper (Far east of the Blues) – Amad) with original pieces conceived and written as a tribute to the musical thought of the Duke. The project was born as a special concert for Focus India / Lugano LAC. 50 years after the publication of the album (Far East Suite, 1967) which won also the Grammy as the best jazz 1968’s performance. Far East Trip has been recorded live on November 2nd 2017 at Palestra Visconti in Milan.
