GERMANY: HEARTBEAT-Ins Weite(Unit Records 2018)

Ins Weite

Florian King - upright- and electric basses, electronics
Herbert Walser - trumpet, fluegelhorn, frenchhorn, electronics
Andreas Krennerich - sopranino, soprano/baritone saxophones
Helge Andreas Norbakken - percussion

The first piece: against an insane tribal groove with deep basses, two Balkan brass virtouosos blow their hearts out. In the next piece, a cool Nordic vastness looms: electronic soundscapes meet microtonal improvisations and develop over 12 minutes into a furious, swelling showdown. Next scene: a delicate, fragile love song, the horn melodies deeply touching. HEARTBEAT is a cosmos of improvised music, difficult to put into one genre, and therefore even more authentic and affecting. Florian King, Helge Norbakken, Andreas Krennerich and Herbert Walser devote themselves to their music without vanity and razzle-dazzle. They focus on the necessary and the essential , with a big repertoire of colours and a tremendous scope of styles.
