FINLAND: Tapio & Tuomi Duo ‎– Matka ( Karkia Mistika 2016)

The makers of abstract visual art and improvised music have quite a few things in common. In evoking the personal emotions and memories of the receiver they invite their audience in an ongoing cyclical discussion where the private and the public meld together. An image or a sound can trigger the ghost of a memory which comes unexpectedly to the open after being hidden away for a long time.
When successful, this interaction leads to unprecedented revelations and leaves a lasting intimate impression on the one experiencing the work. But transmitting and engaging is always a delicate, demanding and even dangerous operation for the artist. Why? Because they must bare their soul and put themselves on the line with no guarantee of any affirmative outcome.
