Global Arts Project presents the internationally-acclaimed and
Miami-based vocalist Nicole Henry, in the opening of the first annual
FREE to the public Artscape Concert Series, a set of four unique
concerts scheduled to be held outdoors in Collins Park, Miami Beach on
select Sundays from 2:00pm – 5:00pm. Ms Henry is a winner of a Soul
Train Award, and has established herself as one of the jazz world's
most acclaimed vocalists. Ms. Henry possesses a potent combination of
dynamic vocal abilities, impeccable phrasing, and powerful emotional
resonance. Her repertoire includes the American Songbook, classic and
contemporary jazz titles; while her accompaniment ranges from a simple
jazz trio to a full big band.
The 2016 Artscape Concert Series will showcase 4 internationally
regarded artists with a strong multicultural ethos. Besides Nicole
Henry, it will feature Batuke Samba Funk, a high energy Brazilian Funk
band; Chardavoine’s Creole Jazz Project, a manifestation of Haitian
Jazz; and Timbalive, a group of highly trained musicians from Cuban
conservatories.
The concert will open with a student jazz ensemble under the direction
of Dr. Ed Calle, 2015 Latin Grammy Award Winner for Best Instrumental
Album and 5-time Grammy nominee, as part of Global Arts Project's
educational outreach program. Additionally, Artscape concerts will be
accompanied by a Farmers' Market hosted by The Market Company.
