Jan Kus Quartet’s CD release show for their debut album – Faith
– produced by LeitmotivArts is taking place on February 23rd at New
York City’s club Drom. The album is set for digital release February
17.

The quartet is led by the eclectic Slovenian-born, New York City-based

since 2014 in the NYC area, and internationally since 2007 (Europe,
Puerto Rico, South Korea). Other members of the quartet include Dan
Martínez (upright bass) and Joel Mateo (drums) from Puerto Rico, and

Compositions on the album represent an original eclectic musical
mixture that spans from Modern Jazz to Latin jazz and Soul with
intricate musical landscapes full of exotic rhythms and sophisticated
harmonies. Jan Kus seamlessly meshes his talents as a saxophonist,
composer and arranger to create his original musical expression and
modern sound.

Besides nine original compositions by Jan Kus and two pieces written
by the group’s bassist, Dan Martínez, the album includes refreshing
original arrangements of the jazz classic, “Rhythm a Ning” written
by Thelonious Monk, and the mesmerizing movie soundtrack piece,

York:Synecdoche) written by Jon Brion.

The album features guest appearances by Grammy-award acclaimed jazz
greats Antonio Hart and Alex Sipiagin, as well as future household
names in various genres, spanning from modern jazz to Latin jazz, soul
and hip hop Rafal Sarnecki, Carlos Maldonado, Žiga Murko, Mélanie JB
Charles.
