(1)  DEBUT RELEASE FROM WILL JARVIS! - "CON GRACIAS"

Will Jarvis (…my old friend and colleague from the Memo Acevedo years!…) has finally released his debut recording entitled, "Con Gracias", and it is now available at iTunes and CDBaby here:  https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/con-gracias/id1071317531 and  http://cdbaby.com/cd/willjarvis

This album features a collection of all original Latin/Jazz compositions (based on an array of contemporary and traditional styles).  And Will managed to round up a pretty good bunch of guys for this project too (…so I was very happy to be a part of it!… :-) including the following musicians:

[ Very Quick Bio:  Will Jarvis is a busy freelance bassist, composer and educator who has been active on the Toronto music scene for many years.  Will’s affection for Afro-Cuban music began in the 1990s when he first played with some of the Toronto-area’s finest Salsa and Latin Jazz groups (including Memo Acevedo).  During this time, Will also had the great pleasure of performing live with Afro-Cuban giants, Tito Puente, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Dave Valentine, Hilton Ruiz and Luis Conte. ]



(2)  A QUICK REMINDER RE: OTTAWA - JANUARY 9, 2016

For those in the Ottawa area, please remember that, on Saturday, January 9th, I will be:

(i) delivering a Flute/Improvisation Clinic at Long & McQuade in the afternoon; and 

(ii) performing at GigSpace in the evening (with Mark Ferguson and John Geggie).

(Details appear in the Gig Listing below.)

Do come out to one…or the other…or perhaps even both!… :-)


(3)  A GREAT CLIP OF LOUIS ARMSTRONG & DANNY KAYE

This is a remarkable clip of a two consummate entertainers performing a brilliant version of "When The Saints Go Marching In".  If you’ve seen it before, then you’ll know it’s well worth revisiting.  And if you haven’t, then you are in for four minutes of brilliance that increases throughout the duration of the clip! :-)
