Aduna Jazz project

ADUNA is the world in  woloff language ( Senegal ) to say "life". In the latin language
"adunare" (ad + unus) was a verb to say "make one with different things"… And our group
ADUNA is a musical look at the world from different cultures that are in the same place ,
the Mediterranean.

 This group was founded in 2013 in Catalonia when the singer Carla Cruells join guitarist
Manuel Carmona , all motivated by the search for a fresh sound and personal music
mixing with a dialogue between continents .. South America , Africa and Mediterranean .
A flamenco guitar , brazilian bass,  percussion with Afro­ Latin tradition, a violin and a
trumpet that moves between jazz and flamenco , all adorned with a voice Catalan:

Our music is a reflection of who we are today as a result of this time in which we live great
migration , multiculturalism , search of identity crisis and the resurgence of an artistic and
communicative needs . Aduna sounds found: flamenco, jazz , Africa , Brazil , Cuba ... all
the trips , influences and connections are present . Openness to other rhythms and
melodies which leads everyone talking !
Our eclectic music It combines various traditional instruments that give it the touch of root
: balàfon , cavaquinho , cliff .... these instruments were complementing the main training
consists of :
 Flamenco guitar , bass , drums percussion minor elements , trumpet , Flügel , violin and
voice. And chorus . The subjects played different styles of music and different languages:
Portuguese, Spanish, Catalan and woloff ... with modern arrangements of jazz is a
mixture Aduna interesting e unclassifiable exciting !

SAMUEL GARCIA GARCIA : trumpet, Flügel , violin .
November 1987 , Tarragona
graduated with a degree in violin and trumpet at the Conservatory of Music of the Balearic
Islands in 2012. And in classical music .
collaborated sporadically with the Symphony Orchestra of the Balearic Islands, violin and
trumpet in 2010/2012 . He was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Catalonia ,
being led by the likes of directors Brotons , Josep Pons , Manuel Valdivieso , Anton
Richenbaker Barry Sargent , etc. .. and acting in concert halls throughout Spain . He has
recorded for radio and DVD Catalonia and Deutsche Gramophone label Gurrelieders the
Arnold Schoenberg . Always combining his studies of classical music with modern music ,
and playing with bands such as:
" ONE DROP " ( ska ) , " SOUND Cocuyo " ( Latin ) " SOUL MACHINE " ( Soul & Funky
Rith'm Blues ) " ACOUSTIC rage " ( pop­rock winner of " * SONA 9 ) " Son de la Cham " (
mixing gravel with which in 2013 the album " Consciousness " ) ... etc.
He has performed in Spain, France , Cuba and Germany. In the field of jazz include the
award revelation in the group " Jazz Competition Commercial Palma II " with the quintet "
Fourth Republic " . She is a member of the Original Jazz Orchestra ( ULL ) Musicians
Workshop (BCN) under the baton of David Shepherd
Fronterazul (* flamencojazz ) Aduna ( jazzfusion / world music ) , among others ,
performing in venues such JazzCava ( Terrace ) Jamboree (BCN) , Palace of Catalan
Music (BCN) etc ... In the field of Flamenco shared stage with artists such as Israel
Suárez " Piranha " ( drawer , Paco de Lucia ) , Josemi Carmona ( Guitar, Ketama ) ,
Eduardo Cortez , Benjamin Bean , Sebastian Roman ... etc. She has been teaching at the
school of modern music " and classical musicians " .
 CESAR Vasconcellos : electric bass/ cavaquinho.
 Born in France and raised in Brazil , formed in Social Sciences and Music . At first the
University of Sao Paulo and the second from the University of Music Livre " Maestro Tom
Jobim " in Sao Paulo. His main teachers were: Eric Budney , Djalma Lima, Itamar Colaço
, Arismar do Espirito Santo , Lanny Gordin , Sami Bordokan , among others. He worked
as a musician in Sao Paulo from 1998 to 2007 making music for theater and acting more
groups of different styles from traditional samba and choro ( Priscila Amorim , Paulo "
Kaneco " Muniz ) , to modern samba ( bossa nova ) and jazz ( Lanny Gordin ) , with raids
by Arab music ( group Laialina ­ Sami Bordokan ) and Greek . He lives in Spain since
2007, playing in new languages ​sound like rumba, flamenco and experimental jazz .
Currently acts as a bassist and Aduna.

09 August 1975 Cantabria.
Musician, drummer and percussionist . He studied at the Music Workshop  (Barcelona) ,
the credit Instituto Superior de Arte in Havana (Cuba) , and has studied with master Griot
Balanta Emsa Yata ( Senegal ); at 2012 he join the workshop in the school Olodum
(afrocuban and afrobrasilian) , and has studied with master Paulinho  Dida samba school
credit ( Salvador de Bahia ­ Brazil)

MANUEL CARMONA OLMOS : flamenco guitar
04February 1983 , Palma De Mallorca
Granada family , his grandfather was a guitarist in the caves of Galera (Granada) and his
grandmother sang in these environments and parties. This love of flamenco will be
transmitted naturally and family , starting to learn this language through self­study ,
initially percussion and later the guitar. He likes to find links with other music roots as
jazz, brazilian music and A
african and oriental rhythms . At 18 years old moves to Barcelona to study architecture
which also comes in contact with the flamenco clubs in the city, there to learn the guitar to
accompany singing and dancing with several masters of the instrument known between
Barcelona and Granada . Mixing with musicians from all parts of the world developed their
own style to the touch , which allows you to compose freely within the flamenco and
contemporary music . He has attended seminars with Josemi Carmona, Emiliano Castro,
David Pastor, Jorge Pardo , Ari Colessis, Beto Angerosa, Lluis Coloma Motis & Chamorro
, etc ... Sharing the stage with some of them and playing at festivals in countries like
Brazil , Germany, Italy , Morocco, Finland and scenarios Peninsula and Islands. He is
currently involved in several projects , all on the road flamencojazz and fusion .

Carla Cruells  : Voice and percussion.
04 March 1980 , Barcelona .
Teacher, dancer and musician . It combines studies in education at UB (Barcelona
university), with artistic training .
Graduated in the School of Modern Music Badalona and FUNCEB Dance Conservatory.
Moved in time to Menorca where she continue her studies in the "Factory of Musicians"
with masters like John Aymerich Arguimbau, Peter and Laura Flores . Titled in method of
singing " Estill Voice International" with Helen Growson . At 2006 wins the contest
"Sounds 9" and recorded the disc " What should we do ? " Discmedi .
 Over 2012 lives in Salvador de Bahia where starts to learn the local music styles the
rhythms of  samba and bossanova . Spends 6 months in Senegal in 2013 and expands
her musical language .
He has worked on musicals such as "Pirates" by MIB.Produccions.
 Has been part of different groups of jazz and fusion as :
Quartet Carla : 4tet jazz and bossanova with her own arrengements.
