MIKE JONES TRIO - Plays Well With Others (Capri 2013)

Pianist Mike Jones is joined by the great Jeff Hamilton on drums and 21 year old bass prodigy Mike Gurrola. The trio swings through 11 standards and 2 original blues. The material ranges from a funky arrangement of Besame Mucho to a heartfelt version of September Song. Other highlights include Day By Day, Deed I Do, Corcovado, I Know Why and So Should You and a barrelhouse solo piano version of I'm Walkin'. Jones gig for the last 10 years has been playing in a duo with magician Penn Jillette on bass as the opening act for the Penn and Teller show in Las Vegas.
