Manuel Linhares - Traces of Cities (2013)

With a high range and a warm voice Manuel Linhares is an uprising singer in the Portuguese Jazz scene. Either in English or Portuguese these original compositions are a exquisit and subtle portrait of cities and their memories.

This is an album about cities, their spaces and forms, about what stays in the silence of the memory and only music can remember. Traces are songs, outlines, impressions, fragile melodies, a voice that is suddenly suspended among the unceasing rhythms of these cities.

In this work Manuel Linhares has gathered a superb band of Portuguese and Spanish musicians. With Paulo Barros (piano), José Carlos Barbosa (bass), Filipe Monteiro (drums), Rui Teixeira (bass clarinete / alto saxophone) and the special guest Xosé Miguelez (tenor saxophone).
