Meadow Quartet came into being in 2009 in Gdańsk. The first rehearsals took place in the Academy of Music at Meadow Street in Gdańsk.
Meadow is commonly associated with tranquility and joy. However, it is also the wide open space where changes, transformations and joint venture can take place. Meadow Quartet tries to create the space, which can be diffused by influences of modern chamber music, jazz, improvised music, film music and the most fundamental medium – traditional jewish music. Meadow Quartet, at last, is an exciting challenge: following a path which defies simple stylistic classification.
Finally, Meadow Quartet denotes four outstanding musician – four instrumentalists, each inspired by one of the above type of music, but altogether Meadow Quartet is four, synergizing in musical performance, personalities.
