Montreux Jazz Festival will have Japan Night in 2014

The Montreux Jazz Festival representatives decided to have a special event dedicated to Japanese artists, to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Japan and Switzerland. Japanese organizers and Montreux city officials reached an agreement regarding the outlines of the 2014 event. The names and program of the Japanese artists that will perform next year in Montreux is to be established in the following months, Kyodo reports.
The festival takes place in Switzerland and is considered to be the most important event of the kind. The saxophone player Sadao Watanabe is one of the Japanese artists who played there.
Japanese musicians who performed there in the past include saxophone player Sadao Watanabe. This year’s Montreux lineup included musicians like Prince and Sting.
Montreux Jazz Festival that this year took place July 5 – July 20, has an audience of 200,000 per year. Next year’s event will take place between July 4 and July 19.
