It is the most personal album they have ever made. The compositions, recording and production – all their own. An experiment with themselves as guinea pigs. That takes some courage.
Conviction, resolve, confidence and passion. You need all that for a venture of this kind, and you can hear it in every note. With "Running", Julian and Roman Wasserfuhr are on their own four feet.
Giving birth to music, especially jazz music, is like putting together a jigsaw puzzle. Richly coloured individual components spread out before you. Not broken fragments, but a controllable chaos that you have to get a grip on. A creative process kicks in. It is work, but at the same time play. A sorting, studying, testing, composing, cementing begins. Don't rush things. Never stop questioning, modifying, adjusting – always knowing you are on the right track. It takes time, and stamina. Doing it is a gift from the gods.
First comes the idea, then contours, and then ultimately a picture. What it looks like, what it is or should be, lies in the eye of the beholder. For it to appeal and have meaning it needs value, depth, expressiveness and emotion. To be recognisable it needs an own unmistakable style. The skilful puzzler, as are the Wasserfuhr brothers, take care of that.

"Running" is the result of a process, both in its entirety and piece by piece. It is a striving to create meaning, to evoke images in the listener's mind. It is the desire to share thoughts and emotions together. And ultimately it is the aspiration to meet with open arms and ears with one's music.
