We’re very excited to announce the programme for Brecon Jazz festival 2013 today, which will take place between the 9th and 11th of August. 2013 will see a third more gigs than last year, a sprinkling of stellar names and leading lights of the Jazz world. Courtney Pine, Django Bates, Jools Holland, Zoe Rahman, Phronesis, Julian Siegel, Jason Rebello and Acker Bilk will feature, along with the legendary Mavis Staples and, with 18 Grammy Awards between them, The Impossible Gentlemen - as the picturesque streets of Brecon come alive again this August.
As well as the increase in concerts, we have also added another venue to the event, with The Castle Hotel returning as an official festival venue after a brief absence. We’re also thrilled to welcome back our Welsh artist-in-residence Huw Warren, who is again creating international collaborations under the World Wide Wales banner; this time with Maria Pia de Vito and Jim Black. As always, homage will be paid to emerging Welsh Jazz talent, and late club nights return to the Market Hall in the centre of Brecon, where Jazzman Gerald and Snowboy will be igniting the dancefloor into the early hours.
This year the atmosphere will again be enhanced with colourful street entertainment that proved so popular in keeping all ages entertained around town last year, and we will once again work closely with Brecon Fringe to put a complementary programme of music into Brecon’s bars and smaller venues.
Why not let us know what you think of this year’s programme by interacting with us on Facebook or Twitter; we’re always keen to hear some feedback.
We hope that you enjoy this year’s festival as much as we enjoy putting it together, because at the end of the day, it’s all for you, the audience!
