An annual recurring part of the festival is "The encounter". This time it brings two different drummers together. Han Bennink is a famous Dutch jazz drummer, a great improviser, visual artist and also enjoys great fame abroad. Ries Doms (Goirle, 1979) is hard rock drummer from Tilburg, known for his performances with bands like The Kik, The Bars (USA), The Spades and Highwater. Ries also owns Quadrofoon Records and he is co-founder of the annual Independent Incubate Festival.

Willem Breuker Kollektief
After a parting tour of the U.S. and the Netherlands, Willem Breuker Kollektief plays one of the last performances at Paradox. In the spirit of founder Willem Breuker (1944-2010), the ensemble brings Breuker compositions, of 'greatest hits' as well as material not previously performed. This is one of the last times the band can still be seen and heard. There are 2 more sold out concerts in the Amsterdam Bimhuis and then the canvas for this unique orchestra is finally fallen. Make sure you're there!

Willem Breuker gave the Dutch music scene over again innovative impulses. As a composer he united diverse styles in theatrical and cabaret performances to the widest possible audience.
"Breuker's prolific output, boundless energy and optimism leaves an incandescent inspiration for future generations"

Following the two very last shows of the Willem Breuker Kollektief on December 28 and 29, The Kollektief will play a very, very last set as part of the Bimhuis New Year’s Eve concert- in the spirit of Klap op de Vuurpijl, (The Grand Finale)- the festival with which Willem Breuker (1944-2010) lit up the dark days between Christmas and New Year.
The Kollektief will share the bill with two rare combinations: a unique meeting between probably the best-known jazz pianist and the most adventurous drummer in The Netherlands:
Louis van Dijk with Han Bennink, accompanied by double bassist Ernst Glerum.
Additionally, Actor Felix Strategierwill sing songs by Herman de Coninck in a trio featuring improvising cello player Ernst Reijseger and pianist Wolfert Brederode.
