Jazz fest kicks off in Moscow

The Ninth International Festival “Russian Stars of World Jazz” is opening in Moscow on Friday, timed for the 90th anniversary of jazz in Russia.

The participants in the three-day festival which will last until Sunday represent a wide spectrum of jazz genres.
The Great Jazz Orchestra led by Pyotr Vostokov will open the festival with a jubilee program honoring jazz legend Jimmie Lunceford whose big band enjoyed tremendous popularity in the swing era.
Other participants in the festival include the Moscow Ragtime Band and the Trombone Show.
