Christian Meijers - Quintet East Autumn (2012)

Christian Meyers had the classical quintet sound for trumpet, tenor saxophone, piano, double bass and drums in mind for a long time. Over the years he wrote more and more songs so eventually it was very natural found the Christian Meyers Quintet. The debut East Autumn contains a variety of songs: grooving songs like A Glimpse Of Past Events, swinging songs like Jim’s Jump, quiet songs like Still Around, and with Berlin Pancake even a winking calypso. Autumn is the favourite season for Berlin-based Meyers. But since autumn in the German capital is often very cold, the album title accommodates this fact.

From the first rehearsals Meyers was impressed how fast and enthused his four fellow musicians adopted his music. Very fast they created their own band sound clearly noticeable throughout the entire album. In the solo sections each musicians shows his own personality, and style, and gives a very personal statement.
