Steve Berndt-Déjà Vu (feat. Brian Browne) (2012)

A collection of much loved jazz standards with one original song (the title track) in the piano/vocal lounge style. Recorded live to multi-track, this jazz album is a work of improvisation both in arrangement, vocal treatment and piano soloing.

"Déjà Vu" is a jazz album reminisent of the famous Bill Evans/Tony Bennett recordings made in the 1970's. Comprised of only piano and vocal the recordings are intimate and dynamic. Recorded live as improvised jazz performances the tracks are immediate and fresh being mostly first takes.

"Déjà Vu" was produced by Steve Berndt at Shine Studios in Ottawa. The album was engineered by Eric Disero, himself an excellent young jazz pianist and a vital addition to the process bringing an understanding of jazz and the songs themselves to the sessions. Brian Browne plays a Bösendorfer grand piano on this album.
