Authors Herb Silverstein and Richard Drexler announce release of “Jazz Harmony and Improvisation”

Book Offers Advice from Respected Musicians

Authors Herb Silverstein and Richard Drexler announce release of “Jazz Harmony and Improvisation”

In their unique book “Jazz Harmony and Improvisation: Scores and Recordings of Original Tunes” (published by Trafford Publishing), Herb Silverstein and Richard Drexler combine their musical knowledge to present advice and guidance to people searching for techniques for growing their own understanding of music.
“Jazz Harmony and Improvisation” contains 50 ofSilverstein and Drexler’s original songs. For readers who are also musicians, a corresponding album is available with recordings of each song as well as lead sheets for each song to be used as play along. Writing from their expertise as experienced and respected musicians, Silverstein and Drexler include suggested techniques for improvisation.
The authors hope musicians find “Jazz Harmony and Improvisation” useful in their growth as artists. “This book/CD combination is a powerful tool for the improvising musician wishing to find the correct notes to choose from in constructing a harmonically sophisticated solo or accompaniment,” explains Silverstein.
As musical theorists, Silverstein and Drexler also want their book to appeal to people who aren’t solely musicians. “The information is also valuable for the composer/arranger or anyone interested in understanding the sounds and structure of any kind of music.”
