The Either/Orchestra at
After taking time off since February, the 10-headed beast returns to action at our favorite tiny venue, the Lily Pad in Inman Square, Cambridge MA, for a single show at 10 pm. We'll have three guest musicians with us, and feature a grab-bag show including a couple of sections of Gershon's recent major work The Collected Unconscious, a couple of Ethiopian songs, some old and new originals.
A highlight promises to be Russ's arrangement of "Africa," the original anthem of the Organization of African Unity (now the African Union). This song was written by Ethiopia's Armenian maestro Nerses Nalbandian to honor the founding of the OAU in Addis Ababa in 1963.
Tom Halter - trumpet Joel Yennior - trombone Russ Gershon - tenor, soprano sax, flute Charlie Kohlhase - baritone sax Gilson Schachnik - piano Rick McLaughlin - bass Vicente Lebron - congas
special guests:
Bobby Spellman - trumpet Martin Dalmasi - alto sax, flute Oscar Suchanek - drums
Admission is only $10; 1353 Cambridge St, Inman Square;
