Sarah
Quintana, songwriter, jazz vocalist and guitarist from New Orleans,
offers us her debut album of folk-jazz originals. An enchanted
recording featuring Simon Lott, James Singleton, John Fohl, Produced by
Ingrid Lucia, Mixed by Mark Bingham
The World Has Changed was
written by Sarah Quintana in the years following hurricane Katrina. Her
music is based on louisiana folk traditions, classic jazz and swing and
is inspired by New Orleans, female archetypes and story telling.
Improvisation is the practice of opening up the moments, the songs and
the stories in order to connect more... using music to explore myth,
express feelings and grow greatly sympathetic to the human condition.
Sarah uses the events of her life, hurricanes, death and heart break and
Female Archetypes to compose... her folk-tales and carefully chose her
team after a sucessful kickstarter campaign.
Thanks to a kickstarter campaign launched in October, Sarah's fans raised her enough money to make this recording at Oak St Studios in December and January. With Ingrid Lucia- Producer, Lu Rojas-sound engineer, John Fohl-guitar, Simon Lott- Bells, percussions pots pans and drums, James Singleton- Bass, Kevin Clark-guest trumpet, Leah Song and Chloe Smith of Raising Appalachia- vocals, Mark Bingham and John Fischbach- mixed and mastered at Piety Street Studios, Dwight Marshall- photos and Steve Winn- graphic design.
