Denny Seiwell Trio

Lehighton native and former McCartney drummer Denny Seiwell back in the jazz groove
Denny Seiwell, Lehighton native and founding member of Paul McCartney's Wings, is back in the jazz grooveThe jazz trio isn't Seiwell's only current project. He's doing an album with Henry McCullough, who was the guitar player from the original Wings band — and who left the band at the same time Seiwell did.
"Henry has recorded tracks in Ireland and sent them over to me, and I, in my home studio, put drums and percussion on them, and my engineer is mixing it."
The projects represent a dream — almost as important to him as his time in Wings, Seiwell says.
"I'm always proud of the fact that when Paul decided to make music again after leaving The Beatles, that I was the first guy that he hired on to make music with," he says.
But after a long career as a sideman, "I'm getting the chance to do my own thing for the first time. Rather than being a sideline musician, where I'm just part of an entity, this I get to encourage the direction we want to go with this thing, and it's just such a magical trio."
