This year’s headline acts include jazz legend Dame Cleo Laine, crooner Tony Christie, singer songwriter Scott Matthews and jazz funk outfit James Taylor Quartet. Other highlights include performances by Wilco Johnson, Ska pioneers The Beat, blues band The Spikedrivers, Katy Shotter, Zoot Serious and The Cavern Beatles.

The Brazilian programme as part of the London 2012 Festival, the culmination of the Cultural Olympiad of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, has been announced in Rio de Janeiro.
The Brazilian elements will be integrated into the 12-week cultural celebration that will run from 21 June until 9 September, bringing together leading artists from around the world in events across the whole of the UK.

USA: UT Jazz Orchestra Performs with John Clayton, 4/14

Texas Performing Arts celebrates the Butler School of Music’s annual Longhorn Jazz Festival with a  performance from the UT Jazz Orchestra joined by Grammy Award-winning bassist and composer John Clayton in the intimate and acoustically rich Bates Recital Hall.
Under the direction of Professor Jeff Hellmer, the UT Jazz Orchestra is the Butler School of Music's premiere jazz ensemble. The Jazz Orchestra has performed with such luminaries as Michael Brecker, Phil Woods, Bob Brookmeyer, Conrad Herwig, and James Moody. The ensemble's repertoire also features original compositions of its members.

Jools Holland & His Rhythm & Blues Orchestra will bring this year’s Jazz & Blues Festival (20-29 July) to a close on Sunday 29th July.
The piano maestro and TV and radio presenter will be bringing his band, featuring Gilson Lavis (Squeeze), regular vocalists Ruby Turner and Louise Marshall and a special guest, the new jazz vocal phenomenon from the States, Gregory Porter, for a one-off show at the Edinburgh Playhouse.
