USA: The Either/Orchestra at Boston's ICA, February 24

The Either/Orchestra
Friday, February 24
7:30 pm, $18, $16 ICA members

Featuring the Boston Premiere of Russ Gershon's new piece, The Collected Unconscious:

Of the November NYC Premiere, lucidculture.comwrote: "Amazing...one of the two or three best
New York concerts of the year...lush, majestic power...effortlessly and imaginatively bridging the gap between Cuba and Ethiopia...the shifting textures and voicing of these new compositions are equal to anything Gil Evans ever came up with."

Barbara Lee Family Foundation Theater at the ICA

This fantastic space is an excellent place to hear the Either/Orchestra.
The program will include The Collected Unconscious, commissioned by Chamber Music America, an epic suite which reflects the E/O's 15 years of experience in Ethiopian music in the mirror of their jazz and Afro-Caribbean roots.

Also in the program will be four pieces by Nerses Nalbandian.
Mr. Nalbandian was an Armenian immigrant who became Ethiopia's maestro in from the 1940s through 60s, ultimately serving as musical director of the National Theater.  In May 2011, the E/O revivied this music, for the first time in half a century, on the stage of the National Theater in Addis Ababa.

And we'll throw in some funk and some swing!
