Drummer and producer Chris Dave has an ambitious year planned for 2012. In addition to a debut album, set for release later this year, Dave has joined neo-soul singer D'Angelo for his comeback 2012 European tour dates as his drummer and music director. The tour kicked off in Stockholm, and continued in cities including Paris, Amsterdam, and London, among others.
"Working with D'Angelo is an incredible experience, we both have the highest respect for each other musically," reflects Dave.
Dave's open interpretations of rhythm and his unique sound have him sought out by some artists of the highest caliber. Recent projects include his contribution as one of the featured drummers on Adele's multi-GRAMMY® nominated album 21 (produced by Rick Rubin, among others) and Maxwell's GRAMMY® winning BLACKsummers'night. Dave is also known for his collaboration with pianist Robert Glasper, including his work in Glasper's Experiment project. Dave is featured on Glasper's new album Black Radio (Blue Note Records/EMI), which is set for release on February 28.
The often sought-after drummer/producer recently signed exclusive representation with The JAE.B Group, an Artist Relations and Management firm based in Los Angeles, CA. Headed by music executive and artist manager Jae Barber, the firm is currently focusing on expanding Dave's solo career and visibility across a variety of genres and music platforms. He is set to release a solo project in 2012 and is currently approaching the forefront to perform with his band, "Chris Dave & Friends," which features world-renowned musicians and is known for having special surprise guests.
With the proven track record that spans over a variety of genres, the 90s to the present mark a time where Dave has redefined the role of the modern drummer. He has taken his unique approach to production, tweaked it and applied it to the drum kit, creating an original sound.
