Mateus Starling quartet - Free Fusion (2011)

Modern jazz-fusion with unique compositions, free forms, free improvisation played by a Top brazilian quartet.

Recorded in August of 2011 and released worldwide in December 2011 in a 5 hours section in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Free Fusion was all recorded live, without overdubs, with the expectation to capture the interaction and freedom of the musicians.

7 songs composed by the guitar player Mateus Starling. The quartet is completed by Berval Moraes (bass), Julio Merlino (tenor sax) and Lucio Vieira (drums), some of the best musicians in Brazil.

The name free fusion is a chance to reduce the cd in 2 words, showing the propose of this album, freedom in forms and harmony, that is the main part of compositions and improvisations. The mix of elements and styles like rock, jazz, groove and Brazilian music close one quick definition about the title and the intention of the fusion played by the quartet.
