Saturday, January 21, 2012 event will feature The Temptations, Ellis Marsalis, and Trombone Shorty, among other performers, kicking off National School Choice Week 2012.
Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews will perform at the National School Choice Week kick-off event in New Orleans, Louisiana, event organizers announced today. The event will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2012 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Lakefront Arena on the campus of the University of New Orleans, and there is no cost to attend.
Andrews is a trombone and trumpet player and native of the Tremé neighborhood in New Orleans’ 6th Ward. His album Backatown was nominated for the 2011 Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Jazz Album. Since 2009, Andrews has played in the band Orleans Avenue.
