CANADA: Live disc by Edmonton sextet a hit — by jazz standards

Live disc by Edmonton sextet a hit — by jazz standards
Album helped saxophonist Don Berner and crew land featured gig at Montreal jazz fest
That fine Vancouver soul-jazz band The B3 Kings with singer Denzal Sinclair pay a return visit tonight, taking on seasonal repertoire and more as part of the Cafe Series at Festival Place. Their initial Christmas offering, recorded at the Cellar jazz club, goes back to 2004 so we’re guessing they’ve added a few tunes to the holiday songbook since then.
Christ Gestrin hits the organ with Cory Weeds on sax, Bill Coon on guitar and the amazing voice of Denzal Sinclaire, still one of the nation’s finest jazz singers.
Tickets are $18 from the box office at 780-449-3378 or from festivalplace.ab.ca.
